Classification of LED tubes
LED lamps that look like fluorescent tubes are becoming increasingly popular with customers.
These LED tubes are similar to conventional fluorescent tubes in both appearance and length,
and they usually have the same physical dimensions as the fluorescent tubes described in standard NEMA C78.81,
Depending on the way they are used, they can be divided into three categories, type A, type B, and Type C LED tubes.
Type A lamps – can be used as a direct replacement for fluorescent lamps,
and can be used directly behind the fluorescent lamp rectifier without modifying the circuitry of the original fluorescent lamp.
If the test and structure of the LED tube can fully comply with the requirements of UL 1993, including the size of strict compliance with the requirements of NEMAC 78.81.
And can be used with a variety of fluorescent lamp rectifiers, you can apply for LISTED type A lamps, the product category is OOLV.
LISTED type A lamps according to the requirements of UL1993 to do tests with the reference rectifier,
so as to simulate the matching of LED lamps and a variety of fluorescent lamp rectifiers.
If Type A LED lamps can only work with a certain model or some models of fluorescent lamp rectifiers, or the length of the lamp is not the standard size required by NEMA C78.81,
then only R/C type A lamps can be applied for, and the product category is OOLV2,
This can be done with IFAR certification, in accordance with UL1598C, after the original fluorescent lamps and lanterns are confirmed or modified accordingly,
such as changing the position of the lamp holder, so as to replace the fluorescent lamps and lanterns in the field.
There is no need to modify the circuit of the existing fluorescent lamps.
Type B lamps – high voltage lamps.
LED driver circuit is built into the LED tube, integrated LED tube, the LED driver input line is connected to the pin inside the tube,
so the pin of the tube can be directly connected to the mains (branch circuit) through the lamp holder of the luminaire.
Only R/C type B lamps can be applied, and the product category is OOLV2, which can be matched with IFAR certification,
in accordance with the standard UL1598C, after the corresponding confirmation or transformation of the original fluorescent lamps.
For example, remove the original fluorescent lamp rectifier, rewire the original lamp holder, etc., so as to achieve the replacement of the original fluorescent lamp lamps.
Type C,lamps – usually low voltage lamps, need to be used with an external LED driver.
Only R/C type C,lamps can be applied for, and the product category is OOLV2, which can be used with IFAR certification, in accordance with the standard UL1598C,
after the corresponding confirmation or modification of the original fluorescent lamps.
For example, remove the original fluorescent lamp rectifier, etc., the original lamp holder and LED driver wiring on the original lamp,
so as to achieve the replacement of the original fluorescent lamp lamps
